The start of a new adventure

Not quite farewell Fez as well be back for a guided tour tomorrow with our new friends, but definitely a fond farewell to our gorgeous Ryad in the heart of the Medina.

We’re still in the throws of sorting our house back at home so our heads definitely feel like they are in two places at once at the moment.

One rip off taxi ride later with our backs laden with the world’s most stuffed rucksacks and we reached our home for the next 11 months.

It’s not a big yellow truck as that is still stuck in a port in Casablanca. So we have this one through to the Gambia probably, by the sounds of it.

We’ve also got different tents from normal as a result, much lighter than the ones we had last year, so this is our bedroom through to the Gambia.

It’s made of blackout material and our double sleeping bag is like a duvet. Since the beers are on Oasis tonight, all is well.

The people we are with are a diverse bunch. From Americans who walked round Cornwall while we were there, to at least two couples who met while doing previous trips like this. The nut allergic traveller is leaving the trip at Ghana. There’s a physiotherapist and intensive care doctor that everyone is glad to see and at least one estate agent. For fans of the Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, we haven’t met any telephone sanitisers yet, but there is one guy who tends to talk at you, rather than with you. It’s a good crowd though. Our driver lives approximately two miles down the road from us in Bath, what more could we want.

Perhaps just a good night’s sleep.
