This sign also shows that we have found the most fantastic cycle path that will take us all the way to the Scottish border town of Gretna, about 100km away. We tried to avoid lorry dodging this morning by choosing a B road until it turned into this:

So we ended up dodging cars, as always guided by the gloves for around 6kms.

And then found the amazing cycle path

that goes on….

….and on……..

So, to distract ourselves from playing glove snap and counting groups of cyclists on the 30km long cycle path (5), we watched the only feature we have been surrounded by all day – wind turbines. They are incredibly elegant even while dwarfing the tallest trees.

Yep, that’s pretty much how much they moved today.

Our wild and crazy day has ended at an equally wild and crazy BnB, the awesome and inspiring Days Inn on the M74 at Abington service station. Mark worked so hard not to laugh when I asked the receptionist where dinner was served. She offered the information that breakfast was next door at “the Good Breakfast” restaurant in the service station, so I thought it would be fun to go one step further. Suffice it to say that the Burger King we had was not photo worthy and breakfast is equally not going to be a surprise at the Starbucks next door. We would have chosen the Good Breakfast, but the reviews we’ve read suggest this may be a misnomer or at least not entirely consistent with their current brand. To say the least. Someone suggested they would benefit from a refit or maybe a skip.

Thankfully after walking 35km today, a bottle of WHSmith sauvingnon blanc and watching a film on the laptop is just perfect: all the excitement I need.
